How Much Does Zepbound Cost Through LillyDirect?

Zepbound starts at $299 per 28-day supply for the 2.5 mg starting dose through LillyDirect. The 5 mg dose currently costs $399. Higher doses may be available for $449 through the Zepbound Self Pay Journey Program when refill requirements are met.

Who May Qualify for Zepbound?

Zepbound may be appropriate for adults with:

​

  • A body mass index of 30 or greater; or

  • A body mass index of 27 or greater and at least one weight-related health condition, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease or obstructive sleep apnea

​

Zepbound is FDA-approved for long-term weight reduction in eligible adults when used with reduced-calorie nutrition and increased physical activity. It is also approved to treat moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity. A physician must determine whether the medication is appropriate for an individual patient.

Answers to common questions about Zepbound in Utah

  • Zepbound starts at $299 per 28-day supply for the 2.5 mg starting dose through LillyDirect. The 5 mg dose is currently $399. Higher doses may cost $449 when Journey Program refill requirements are met. Potere Health MD charges a separate $39.99 medical consultation fee.

  • No. The $299 price applies only to the 2.5 mg starting dose, which is not an approved maintenance dose. Current self-pay prices increase with dose, although eligible patients may receive certain higher doses for $449 when the Zepbound Self Pay Journey Program requirements are met.

  • Yes. If Zepbound is medically appropriate after your consultation, Potere Health MD can send the prescription electronically to LillyDirect Pharmacy. LillyDirect then handles medication payment, dispensing and delivery. A completed consultation does not guarantee that a prescription will be issued.

  • Yes. Potere Health MD offers telehealth Zepbound evaluations for eligible adults who are physically located in Utah at the time of their appointment. In-person appointments are also available in St. George, Holladay, and Cedar City.

  • Zepbound is an FDA-approved brand-name medication containing tirzepatide. Tirzepatide activates GIP and GLP-1 receptors and is administered once weekly. Compounded tirzepatide is not the same product as FDA-approved Zepbound.

  • The initial consultation is free. A $39.99 medical care fee is charged only if Zepbound is medically appropriate and a prescription is submitted. The fee covers the medical evaluation, prescription submission, and ongoing dosing and side-effect support related to that prescription. Each additional prescription submitted requires a new $39.99 medical care fee. Medication is purchased separately through LillyDirect, and a prescription is not guaranteed.

  • LillyDirect prices shown on this page are cash-pay prices that are not processed through insurance. Lilly states that patients using this self-pay option agree not to seek reimbursement from an insurance plan or apply the purchase toward an insurance deductible.

  • The process can begin as soon as you complete your physician consultation. If Zepbound is appropriate, the prescription can be sent electronically to LillyDirect. Medication availability, pharmacy processing, payment and delivery times are controlled by the pharmacy.

  • Zepbound is a prescription medication and is not appropriate for every patient.

    Zepbound caused thyroid C-cell tumors in rats. It is unknown whether Zepbound causes thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma, in humans. Do not use Zepbound if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid carcinoma or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2.

    Do not use Zepbound if you have had a serious allergic reaction to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients. Zepbound should not be used with another tirzepatide-containing medication or a GLP-1 receptor agonist.

    ​

    Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, indigestion, injection-site reactions, fatigue, belching, hair loss and acid reflux.

    ​

    Serious risks may include severe gastrointestinal reactions, dehydration and kidney injury, gallbladder disease, pancreatitis, serious allergic reactions and low blood sugar, particularly when used with certain diabetes medications.

    Tell your healthcare providers that you take Zepbound before surgery or deep sedation because it can delay stomach emptying. Zepbound should be discontinued when pregnancy is recognized. It may also reduce the effectiveness of oral hormonal contraceptives for four weeks after starting treatment and for four weeks after each dose increase.
